Differences in mentality between Israelis and Germans

For those who wish to tour the country of Israel, a hire car can definitely be recommended. At least it is a quite popular variant of locomotion among travelers, which is also comparatively cheap. A small car can be booked for an average of 20 euros per day. Generally, there is a deductible for vehicle damages, which is limited to 500 dollars. Compared to other countries, these are unquestionably cheap rates. It does not matter whether the vehicle is booked from Germany or spontaneously in Israel. From the mentality it is no problem to go to the branch of a known hire car company and rent a vehicle. Germans, who are considered to be rather fond of planning, can therefore be reassured when travelling to countries such as Israel, which is considered to be somewhat risky. However, the fact still remains that it is a country where life is not necessarily easy, especially in some areas. Provided that a traveller actually decides to drive a car, it is urgently recommended to inform oneself in advance and to avoid certain areas.

About the Israeli and therefore also about the Jewish mentality there are still much more prejudices than about the German one. Foreigners rarely distinguish between regional differences in this country. For them all Germans are ambitious, hard-working, punctual and reliable. This is true for the most part, but not always. It is the same with prejudices against Israelis or Jews. It is said, for example, that the Israeli mentality is aggressive on the one hand, and on the other hand the people are considered lovable. On the one hand there is the famous Jewish humour, which likes to take the mickey out of itself, on the other hand there is a strictness. Just think of orthodox Jews. However, the image of a country that is basically constantly at war and occupying territories distorts the opinion on the mentality of the people.

Israelis are without a doubt hardworking and thus very similar to Germans in terms of morality as well. They are definitely not cowardly, otherwise they would not be able to manage their daily lives at all, especially in a city like Jerusalem. Israelis are considered to be very moral. They are not known for ripping off vacationers directly said. Which also means that you generally won’t get any surprises in business deals, which include renting a car. There is a certain frugality about the people of this country. There is an idea of life that draws its strength from the past. It is: it goes on. This is how it is, for example, even after accidents on the road.

Israeli life has many more facets than many media would have people believe. Those who mean ill by the Jews bring them into contact with prejudices that proclaim that they are all about money. Which is, of course, false. Jews like to solve problems discreetly. But they do solve them. The Jewish way of thinking is different from the Western way of thinking. The Jewish mentality is definitely composed of a sense of victimhood and a desire to live. In everyday life, however, the inhabitants of Israel are quite normal people. As a German, you can feel comfortable around them. Of course there are people who have prejudices because of the past, but these exist in every country. As long as the Germans appear as nice people and do not want to present that they are something or someone, there will be no problems. It should also be mentioned that the Palestinians and Arabs living in the country have a different mentality than the Jews. However, at the end of the day, they too are simply human beings.
