Discover Fairbanks by Hire Car

The city of Fairbanks is located in the northernmost state of the USA, Alaska.
It is the second largest city in Alaska, with a population of just under 33,500, and is the only major settlement in the entire backcountry of the state.
Fairbanks has a very old tradition; it was founded as early as 1902 by gold miners who arrived in Alaska in search of gold and made Fairbanks the starting point of their search.
The city owes its name to Charles W. Fairbanks, a senator from Indiana who later became vice president under Theodore Roosevelt.
Although Fairbanks is relatively small, much of Central Alaska’s life takes place here. Fairbanks has the area’s only international airport, making it the starting point for many tourists. Fairbanks itself is a charming small town in typical North American style. While cultural life extends to only a few museums, bars and restaurants abound.
If you’re looking for a place to party or enjoy a good meal in Fairbanks, you don’t have to look far: There are plenty of cozy little eateries to linger over in Fairbanks. If you make Fairbanks the starting point of a vacation, it is recommended in any case to take a hire car, because you will look in vain for public transportation in the Alaskan backcountry.
